Benefit Claims

This is a difficult time and we want to make it as easy as possible for you to claim.

The Benefit Claim Guide (ENG / AFR) will guide you through the process of a claim for any of the following benefits.

COVID-19 Claims

Depending on the specific benefit you have, Sanlam will cover you for any illness, impairment or disability where these conditions are caused as a result of complications linked to infection by any bacteria or virus. The virus can be COVID-19 or another virus. This includes claims for temporary or permanent inability to work, severe illness or even death. For our Sickness and Temporary Disability Income benefits, when claiming for sick leave or temporary inability to work as the result of COVID-19, we will require you, your doctor or employer to complete a special COVID-19 form to fast track these claims.

Benefit Short description of benefit
Disability benefit Cover in the event of total, permanent and continuous disability to fulfil the occupational demands of the regular and/or alternative occupation.
Trauma/Dread disesase benefit Cover for specific critical illness, for example cancer, heart attack, etc.
Accident benefit / Accidental injury Cover for specific bodily losses, as a result of an accident and specific accidental injuries as listed in the contract.
Physical impairment benefit Cover for specific bodily losses, as a result of an accident or illness.
Functional impairment benefit Cover for permanent functional impairment due to specific claim events.
Income Protector/Overhead Expenses Protector benefit Cover in the event of loss of income due to injury or illness, for regular occupation and/or the overhead expenses of a business.
Accidental Disability benefit Cover in the event of total, permanent and continuous disability to fulfil the occupational demands of the regular occupation, as a result of an accident.
Retrenchment benefit Redundancy of employees and business decisions.
Sickness benefit Cover in the event of injury or illness that prevents you from performing your regular occupation.
Sport benefit Disability cover for professional sportsmen and women.

Step 1: Get the correct claim form

  • Identify which benefit you are claiming for (from the table above)
  • Each benefit has a different claim form with its own form number to identify it
  • Choose the claim form for the specific benefit from the list below

Step 2: Fill in the claim form and gather the documents

  • Update your contact details to make sure that we can keep you informed on the claim progress
  • Attach all relevant documents as indicated in the claim form, including copies of all medical information that you have

Step 3: Send completed documents to Sanlam

  • Send the documents to Sanlam using any of the contact details below

What happens next?

  • Sanlam will review the documents
  • We will request any additional information that we need from you
  • The claim is assessed and Sanlam makes a decision
  • We will Inform you of the outcome
