Heart disease can affect anyone at practically any stage of their life, without the slightest warning. The Severe Illness Cardiovascular Benefit covers 49 cardiovascular traumas, and provides cover for:

• The structures of the heart, including the coronary arteries
• The function and rhythm of the heart
• Diseases of the aorta and other large arteries
• The peripheral vascular system
• Diseases of the blood vessels of the brain, including stroke

A claim will only be considered if the life insured meets the contractual claim event definition of the claim event in question, as well as any other contractual requirements Sanlam may require, as set out in the applicable contract documents.
